Festival Abierto 2014
part 2 - onsite, results, and legacy
The event map and informational squares had become standard operating procedure at this point, as had redirecting traffic from user inquiries to Festival Abierto's website.
Festival Abierto 2013's use of Instagram proved useful in providing real time visual coverage via photo, but 2014's rollout of Instagram video and Movistar's WiFi sponsorship provided Festival Abierto 2014 with the opportunity to raise the bar and provide near instant video coverage.
Along with the customary photography and videography team, Festival Abierto 2014 made use of the rapidly growing drone audiovisual services in Panama to get a bird's eye view of Parque Omar during the event. If you wish to see more, please visit our Facebook albums for Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd.
Given Festival Abierto's aesthetic principles, the photography volunteers were encouraged to try and be as natural and unobtrusive as possible as a means of differentiating themselves from the usual event coverage found in Panama. The decision to avoid posing where possible was very much an editorial one.
Festival Abierto 2014 featured 8 musical acts on Saturday the 22nd, featuring artists from Chile, El Salvador, and USA.
